Install and get ready
On this page
To get started, install the Noea desktop app and prepare at least one coding Agent. The app guides you through installation, sign-in, and connection verification.
Choose an installer
Visit the Noea download section and choose the version for your operating system and processor.
| System | What to choose |
|---|---|
| macOS | Apple silicon, macOS 13 or later. An Intel Mac installer is not currently available. |
| Windows | x64 for Intel or AMD processors; ARM64 for Windows on ARM devices. |
| Linux | x86_64 or ARM64 to match your processor. AppImage and .deb packages are available. |
On macOS, open the disk image and install the app. On Windows, run the installer; it installs for the current user without requiring administrator privileges. On Linux, use AppImage or .deb as appropriate for your distribution.
Prepare your first Agent
If no Agent is ready when Noea starts, the setup guide opens.
- Choose an Agent from the list and click Install.
- Wait for the download, then follow the details panel to sign in and authorize access.
- Wait for Noea to verify the connection. Only Ready means verification has passed.
- Choose the option to start using Noea and enter the workbench.
Noea currently supports Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, and CodeBuddy Code. You only need one to begin. Add others later in Settings → Agent.
Noea downloads the runtime the Agent needs, so you do not have to install Node.js beforehand. Download and preparation progress appear in the app.
Sign in using the Agent's method
Sign-in may open a browser, an in-app terminal, or a system terminal, or ask for an API key. Follow the instructions for the selected Agent.
Codex prefers browser sign-in on macOS and Windows, and device-code sign-in on Linux. OpenCode is set up by connecting a model provider. For provider accounts, API keys, and custom endpoints, see Agents, models, and usage.
Noea verifies the connection again after sign-in. If it still asks you to sign in or reports a failure, open the Agent's details panel to see why.
Even if you already use an Agent in another terminal tool, use its status in Noea's list to determine whether it is ready here.
Resolve download or verification problems
Downloads and Agent requests use the system's HTTP(S) proxy settings. Proxy environment variables take precedence when set. SOCKS proxies are not supported by this mechanism.
If a download fails, check the network and proxy settings, then retry from the same place. A preparation status during a brief pause in incoming data does not necessarily mean the download has failed.
If installation succeeds but verification fails, use the Agent's details panel to sign in again, correct provider settings, or address network problems. You can copy diagnostics when asking for help; see Troubleshooting.
Open your project
In the workbench, choose Open Folder… and select your code folder. Noea opens or creates a linked project. You do not need a complete requirements document, MCP servers, or Skills to follow the first tutorial.
